Knaphill 4-0 Horley Town
The recent fine form at home continued on Tuesday evening with a resounding 4-0 victory over Horley Town. Horley have yet to register a victory against us at Redding Way.
Influential midfielder, Rob Kersley, was suspended for the game so Luke Whiddett replaced him and he had another sound game in midfield next to Jimmy Norman.
Horley had a glorious chance inside five minutes when Nathan Turner was one-v-one with Bufton after Norman had lost possession: he rounded Bufton to present an open goal from 18 yards but managed to miss the target.
After this, Knaphill got on top and chances were created. Danny Taylor had a low shot well saved by Hyde and Rob Parrott headed just over. Timmy Taylor saw plenty of the ball and linked well with Ethan Allen down the left.
The deadlock was broken on 26 minutes when last Saturdays match winner Rob Parrott, was again on the scoresheet as he flicked in from 8 yards in a crowded penalty area. Four minutes later, Danny Taylor raced clear and rounded Hyde, and unlike Turner earlier, he made no mistake and made it 2-0.
Into the second half and Horley looked to gain control in search of reducing the arrears but once again, Collins and Rowley defended superbly well and kept a second clean sheet in a row.
Horley were reduced to 10 men when Harry Williams was dismissed for bringing Danny Taylor down as he chased a through ball. In fact, the ball went through to the keeper so the challenge didn’t need to be made.
Knaphill upped the tempo and went further ahead when great work by Timmy Taylor saw his driven cross palmed out by Hyde but Connor Blanchard was on hand to apply the finishing touch. Muir, Watkins and Close were introduced and the pressure was maintained. Parrott continued his rich vein of form in front of goal by scoring the final goal of the game. Jack Collins put a corner straight on his head and he sent a looping header over Hyde.
Shawn Lyle was frustrated as he created four good chance for himself in the second half but two were inches over and two were saved.
This was another impressive showing moving us up to 7th in the table.
