KNEBWORTH FOOTBALL CLUB - KEEPING FOOTBALL SAFE & ENJOYABLE

Knebworth Football Club takes the safety and welfare of children extremely seriously. The game has robust checks and processes in place. However, the allegations of child sexual abuse that have come to light since November 2016 have seen us re-double our efforts to ensure every child and young person has a safe fun experience playing or participating in the game.

Hertfordshire FA is currently carrying out safeguarding validation visits to ensure that clubs are meeting their commitment to safeguarding.

A sample of clubs will be visited to ensure that everyone working with young people is;

1. Listed on the FA Whole Game System
2. Has a valid Criminal Records Check
3. Has an in date FA Safeguarding Certification.

Safeguarding validation visits are an opportunity for Hertfordshire FA to meet and engage with Knebworth F.C. coaches and parents to make sure they are fully aware of safeguarding in football. During these visits coaches, parents and officials will be asked some simple questions to ensure that everyone understands The FA processes for safeguarding in football.

Richard Drake, Designated Safeguarding Officer at Hertfordshire FA said:

“Whilst safeguarding training is very important amongst our volunteer workforce, communicating the safeguarding message to our parents and players is equally important, as they need to know where to get help should an issue arise.”
