Fine away win for the vets
The injury hit squad travelled to Letchworth with just 12, including robot neck Gavin who could only look over his left shoulder and Fraser carrying a hamstring injury.
The injury hit squad travelled to Letchworth with just 12, including robot neck Gavin who could only look over his left shoulder and Fraser carrying a hamstring injury. Dave Knights demanded 90 minutes in the week, then turned up 30 seconds before kick off. The orange body builder left his Range Rover in Knebworth House overnight, after moonlighting as a butler in the buff at a posh banquet. Unfortunately when he returned in the morning the Knebworth half marathon meant road closures. After going cross country, killing several deer and injuring some runners Dave arrived late. Squad not amused.
Alex Hamer made his league debut, wearing his 35th birthday badge and opened them scoring after a few minutes, showing Barney how to score from left midfield. Letchworth passed the ball out from the back well, but Knebworth always looked more dangerous going forward, and due to some outstanding defending from James, gavin and Martyn were soon 4-0 up. At this point one of the Letchworth players said it was his ball, everyone was mean and he was going home with his ball. A replacement ball was found, and the ball was soon close to the Knebworth goal. Close to the goal was good enough for linesman Banks and he awarded a goal. 4-1 at half time.
Letchworth battled hard in the second half time, and with Mad Martyn Brown at centre half it was never comfortable until it became 6-1. Dave M grabbed 3 goals (from 10 clear cut chances), Barney one from 12, Alex one from two and Andy one from three.
Pizza in Baldock and a decent turn out to hear some storied from the big orange man. The squad said something about Hobbs being a master tactician and Lewis (literally) just a water carrier.
