Firsts held at Cuffley
Bare bones Knebworth pegged back by Cuffley. Corehard man of the match: Allan Taitt
Knebworth had to settle for a point at Cuffley after relinquishing their first half lead.
The home side took the lead midway through the first half when Cassidy struck from distance. It could've been a different story if Louis Gilbert had taken his two chances in the opening ten minutes; rolling the first wide of the target and seeing his later effort parried by goalkeeper Canfield. Cuffley had threatened before the opening goal with Adam Burnett pushing away a lofted shot from Mullard and Colston rattling the K's crossbar, shortly before the hosts went ahead. The response was instantaneous from the visitors though as Kadeem Gutzmore found himself through on goal and, despite Canfield blocking his initial shot, slotted the equaliser into the net. Dale Chester's 25 yard effort found the top corner on the stroke of half time to give the Ks a slender lead going into the break.
With the Ks down to bare bones for the fixture and Cuffley able to introduce fresh legs, the game swung firmly in favour of the home side. Having weathered a long spell out of possession, Knebworth broke quickly through Gutzmore and he crafted an opening for Christian Lett but it was squandered and a few minutes later the visitors paid the price. Cuffley substitute Daniel Rowe levelled things 12 minutes from time with a thumping header. Louis Gilbert could've won it for the Ks in the final minute but his effort was blocked and the two sides had to settle for a share of the points.
