Reserves into Bingham Cox cup semi
Knebworth Reserves booked their place in the semi finals with victory over Old Parms. Raja Tandoori man of the match: Louis Gilbert
The Ks made a perfect start but were pegged back and had to work hard to secure a place in the last four of the Bingham Cox cup.
With Old Parmiterians boasting an 11-point lead at the top of the Reserve South and West division, the Ks knew it would be a huge ask to get past their visitors. The hosts stunned Old Parms with a blistering start as Charlie Pratt drilled across the goalkeeper for his fourth goal of the season just three minutes into the tie. And the lead was doubled on seven minutes when Callum Rowe's pass found the run of Louis Gilbert who rifled the ball home for his first of the afternoon.
Old Parms settled into the game and enjoyed a spell in control as the Ks took their foot off the gas. A Lawrence double on 26 and 33 minutes got the visitors back on level terms, first squeezing the ball past Alfie Pettitt and then sending a looping header over the goalkeeper. And just four minutes later the Ks found themselves behind to cap a poor spell; Wallis' powerful header making it 3-2 to Old Parms. The lead didn't last long as Gilbert benefitted from the ball falling loose and he slotted home an equaliser to ensure the two sides went into the break all-square.
The second half was less open after the two sides had got the measure of their opponents in the opening 45 minutes. Both teams probed for an opening but they were few and far between. Twenty minutes into the half, just a second after the Ks were denied a penalty claim from a corner, the ball fell to Gilbert who lashed it into the top corner to complete his hat-trick and net his 23rd goal of the season. Six minutes from time the tie was wrapped up when Gilbert slipped the ball through for substitute Tizard who finished from eight yards out.
