Reserves win cup thriller
The Ks came from behind to secure a place in the last eight of the Greg Cup. Raja Tandoori man of the match: Owen Todd
Despite going behind to Charlie Pratt's fifth goal of the season, Buntingford took a commanding 3-1 lead into the final 20 minutes. Three goals, including two penalties, in the closing stages saw the Ks perform a dramatic come back.
The hosts seemed to have edged the first half, having gone ahead on 15 minutes when Charlie Pratt drilled the ball past Palfreyman from Pring's cut back, only to be pegged back on the stroke of half time. The Ks defence gifted an opening for Fyfe and he gladly took advantage to equalise just before the break.
Town made a bright start to the second half and veteran Danny Lane edged them in front five minutes in, going through on goal and coolly slotting past Pettitt. Bailey doubled the advantage on 65 minutes but five minutes later the home side were given hope when Louis Gilbert converted from the penalty spot. As the clock ran down the Ks began to exert greater pressure on the Buntingford goal and they were eventually rewarded with an equaliser on 85 minutes when Callum McKechnie slid in Gilbert's cross at the back post. With extra time looming Knebworth won another penalty in the final minute and Gilbert sent the ball into the net to secure a dramatic victory.
Knebworth's prize is a home tie against Wheathamstead Wanderers.
