Sun, Sleet, hail, rain and cold winds cannot prevent the 2nds chalk up their first win of the season
Losing the toss proved no barrier to winning the game in a forty over friendly at Preston's picturesque ground as a competent batting display was followed up by a convincing bowling one.
Put in on a slow early season seamer in freezing wind and rain, Park soon lost opener Colin Letford and Chris Bonser. Youngsters Ross Courtney (35) and Ben Orchard (23) then repaired the damage with a steady partnership before Orchard was caught on the boundary trying to up the run rate. Some big hits from Sam McCrow (29), fine stroke play from young Ollie Laws-Mather (31*) and a brisk cameo from Michael Fisher took the Park to 161 off their 40 overs, a good total considering the poor weather they had to bat through.
McCrow and Fisher soon had three early Preston wickets between them under their belts, and with 3 for skipper Jack Thorn, 3 for Courtney's left arm spin, and one for young debutant Luke Chapman, Preston were bowled out for just 92. The win was a good warm up despite such cold conditions, and even saw two rare catches for Thorn, including a full length dive to finish the game and send everyone running for the warmth!
