As you are aware Howard is stepping down as Chairman so we have created a Job Description to aid your thinking about taking on the role.

KHC Chairman Role Description

The role of Club Chairman is to co-ordinate the management of Knutsford Hockey Club (KHC) on behalf of the membership.

The Chairman is the figurehead of the Club but also the person most responsible for steering the Club and ensuring the club’s practices and policies result in a thriving community.

A good Chairman will be the driving force behind a club’s initiatives and will work closely with the other officers of the club.

The Chairman acts as the spokesperson for the club and deals with any conflicts which may arise.

The Chairman should be familiar with the Club Constitution, rules and regulations, as well as the abilities and experience of the other Committee Members and its members.

Tasks will include, but not limited to:
- Working with the Club Secretary to plan Committee Meetings, and the associated agendas
- Run the AGM meeting and present an Annual Report highlighting successes and issues for members’ attention
- Encourage all members to take an active running in the Club
- Recruit new Committee members when necessary
- Make sure new members are made to feel welcome
- Deal with complaints and mediate where necessary
- Speak to individuals regarding particular issues when necessary
- Represent the Club at necessary meetings – National, County or Regional
- Create, maintain and re-inforce connections with the community to ensure KHC are fully involved with influencing the town expansion and able to capitalise on any potential benefits
- Help promote the Club
