Knutsford sick as Bowden snatch a point with last second penalty flick!

Knutsford 3s travelled to Bowden 7s on Saturday attempting to maintain their 100% record. Sadly it wasn't to be, but lessons can be learnt.

Knutsfords 3s welcomed Simon Deakin to their ranks and awarded him his debut at RB against Bowdon's Vets. Deakin was solid & composed throughout the 70 minutes and looks to be another strong acquisition for Knutsford.
For the first 20 minutes neither side placed enough pace on the ball and the game was somewhat scrappy. Bowdon playing to their strengths with route 1 hockey up to their ageing superstar ex international whose Indian dribbling caused Knutsford cause for concern all afternoon. Unfortunately his running commentary was as unwanted as his ability with stick & ball.
That said Knutsford opened the scoring on 22 minutes through a sweet Chris Howarth short corner strike low to the GKs left. 1-0 Knutsford.

The second half continued in much the same way as the first; Knutsford attempting to play the ball round and across and then use the pace of Ollie Lasham & Sam Swift. Richie Holah also shelled some great balls in from the left which unfortunately went unconverted. At the other end Howarth & Andy Lynes remained resolute at the centre of defence not allowing Bowdon through. On the occasion when they forced a short corner 15 year old Jack Pass in goal made a stunning knee height save on his left. Remarkable!
Shortly after, on the hour mark Karl Stanier worked himself into the D, laid the ball off for Henry Pass who slotted home from close range. 2-0 Knutsford.

Knutsford then altered from 433 to 442 with the intention of holding on to their advantage. However Knutsford couldn't really get the ball away and Bowdon won a short corner which they converted.
2-1 with 5 minutes to go.
Bowdon's ageing playmaker then won a short corner, the result of which was a free for all in the D, a wooden challenge then producing a penalty flick. Bowdon's big lad stepped up, flicked the ball low to the left, Jack Pass dived full length, got a hand to the ball but it dribbled in.
2-2 at the final whistle. Man of the Match to Jack Pass, again!

In summary Knutsford 3s remain unbeaten, and will face a further stern examination next Saturday at home to Golborne.
