Tom Mackie

It is with great sadness that I have to report the passing of Tom Mackie.

It is with great sadness that I have to report the passing of Tom Mackie. Tom passed away on Saturday morning after a long illness.

He will be greatly missed by all whether as a friend, a family man, a raconteur, a genial host in the Club and a true Club Man to the end. Most Club supporters I'm sure would agree that, when visiting other clubs, the question one was most likely to hear was "How's Tom?"; he was well know throughout the west wales area and liked by all. Tom was Club Chairman for many years, a committee man for even longer and latterly, while fulfiling the role of Steward was also made a Life Member and President of the Club.

His long battle against illness typified his resilience and determinedness; many lesser men would have succumbed years ago.

Please join with me in offering our sincere condolences to his family and be sure to raise a glass to his memory. A great man who will be sorely missed.

Secretary

As a member of Tralee Rugby Club, who visited Lampeter Rugby Club on several tours with our club, I was honoured to have known Tom Mackie. I am very saddened at his passing and would like to extend my sympathy, and that of my club which was his spiritual home, to Tom's family and to the Lampeter club he was so proud of. I am sorry I am unable to travel for Tom's funeral but I will be with you all in spirit. David Condon, Tralee Rugby Club

I have met people of all Nationalities, in my travels , and my life in London. Tom stands out as being on e of the more memorable personalities I have ever met in my life. Where do they make these people? I was privelaged to be at Tom's funeral, and pleased to meet many of those who had made a big journey to be there as well. Thank you to the Edinburgh contingent, and, to the folks who took the trouble to cross the sea from Tralee. Thank you. I am humbled.
