Lanark Rugby Club had a convincing 37 – 0 win on Saturday in their away game against Cowal.
In conditions which cold wet and windy, they played possibly their best rugby of the season to score a total of seven tries.
With the wind and slope in their favour, the first came after only five minutes when
Markis McCaig found space on the wing to cross at the corner.
Tries from
Steve McKeown,
Johnny Pringle and
Andrew Angus secured the bonus point by half time.
Earlier in the season Lanark have been guilty of easing off when they felt the game was in the bag, but with the elements against them they took no chances adding a further three tries, two from Angus, who had an outstanding game at stand off, and one from McKeown.
It was an all round balanced performance in spite of the testing conditions. All they have to do is maintain this form to the end of the season!
The club was honoured on Friday to receive the runners up award for the Team of the Year from the
Clydesdale District Sports Council and hope this recognition will inspire anyone interested in joining their ranks, or taking up the game, to come along to their training sessions at the racecourse on Tuesdays and Thursdays 7.30 to 9pm.
