Lancaster City transfer news, and more from City boss Tony Hesketh.

Lancaster City are set to re-sign Jack Duggan from Fleetwood Town on loan until the end of the season. The young central defender was a key defensive figure in the Dolly Blue's early season good form, with consistent sound defensive performances as well as a contribution of 5 goals during his previous 3 month loan spell. Duggan spent the month of December on loan at Evo-Stik Premier side Chester.

Speaking to the Lancaster Guardian, City boss Tony Hesketh said, "I’ve spoken with (Fleetwood manager) Micky Mellon and there’s a chance Jack could play on Saturday against Woodley.

“It will be a big plus for us if we can get Jack back, especially with Danny Gregson’s injury, but because of budget restrictions it could mean one in and one out. If Jack comes in, we’d have to lose somebody.”

Hesketh also announced that winger Billy McKenna will shortly be leaving the club out on loan. The City winger has struggled to break into the side since being sidelined with an injury earlier on the season, despite showing good form in the opening months. McKenna will be loaned out to Bamber Bridge to regain match fitness and get regular playing time.

The City manager also revealed his wish to bring in at least one more player to his squad to add strength to certain areas of the team, specifically central midfield in the absence of Craig Carney, who is still several months away from a return.

Speaking to the Lancashire Evening Post Hesketh said, “The pack of clubs chasing promotion has been gathering numbers, and we’ve got to make sure we stay in there. I think we are capable of keeping up with the pace –that’s the test for the lads over the second half of the season. What we’ve got to concentrate on is getting back to winning ways, and then building from there.”

“I'm looking to bring in one or two players over the next seven days. That might mean one or two having to move out to accommodate them because we’ve got a budget to adhere to. It’s still a happy ship here and the lads know what the challenge is ahead of them.”
