CLUB OF THE YEAR!!!
This is a fantastic result for the Club and recognises the level of skill and development we have right through from the Junior to Senior sections.
CONGRATULATIONS to Nick and Lorna - See below what we said to put them in the running for their awards.
Nick Chittock
Nick has been a member of Lansdown for a number of years and has regularly attended the Junior training sessions. He has played for the Lansdown Badger’s team and graduated to adult hockey a couple of seasons ago. He has made this step up without being fazed and has further progressed into the first team squad this season. Nick has also been a part of the JDC and JRPC set up and is still only 16 years old.
Whilst small in stature, Nick has made a big impact at whatever level of hockey he has played and has a great future ahead of him in Gloucestershire hockey.
Lorna Dymock
Lorna has been playing hockey for more years than she would care to remember. She plays for Lansdown Hockey Club and after playing for many years in the first team is now a key, regular member of the Ladies 2nd X1. She rarely misses training or a match. She has also been involved with the Cotswold Sunsetters, playing for them this season in the National Finals of the Women Masters 40+. She also represented the West of England in the O50s squad at the Regional Tournament last month. But to crown it all she has just been advised that she has been selected for the England O55s Squad and hasn’t stopped smiling since!
Lorna is an inspiration to all – her fitness is outstanding (she still runs 1 at short corners!), she takes all the knocks that come with playing hockey and really understands what playing a team sport is all about.

Club of the Year
Lansdown has had another great season’s hockey that has seen a growth in membership, success on the pitch and a thriving social scene. The men’s 1st XI finished 3rd in their league following last year’s promotion and the 3rd XI succeeded in winning the H&G Division 2 league to gain promotion. Next season will see a men’s 5th team added to the league to accommodate the new members attracted to Lansdown together with the influx of players from the Badgers that are now ready to play adult hockey. The ladies teams have similarly enjoyed their season that has seen junior players making their mark in the adult teams.
Several Lansdown juniors have been selected to join the JDC and JRPC set up across all age ranges in both boys and girls groups. It is not just the juniors that are being recognised, Lansdown has players representing England Ladies Masters at both over 50 and over 55 age groups and the men’s veterans continue playing an excellent standard of hockey.
Lansdown continues to thrive due to the dedication of its committee and a broad membership and this is worthy of the appropriate recognition.
Hope you enjoyed the read and it made you feel proud to be part of Lansdown Hockey Club!
