....Whether or not that this led to the fact that this seemed to be our best game this season, I couldn’t possibly comment.
A very open passing play under a hot summer sun on a very sandy & slow pitch.
Lots of open play as a team, everyone contributed strongly, & everyone really enjoyed it.
Lots of quick passing down both wings from the full backs & outside halves from 16s & defensive breaks – a welcome & very effective change from “run straight down the middle into a stack of defenders” tactic that we have often opted for in the past.
Also a bit of quick “back & across the D to the other wing” passing as well – which also helped open play up a lot
Very effective – and everyone starting running “off the ball” after the first 10 minutes right up until the end of the match: it really made a visible difference
Lots of winning 50/50 balls, which is good against this particular opposition
Good pressure from all, particularly in the D although we need to focus on getting more shots on goal rather than striving for the “perfect hit”. Our attacking short corners need more practice (only 2 clean shots off 4 or 5)
Despite his dodgy knees & cricked neck Tim Cornish
made an admirable guest appearance for the 4s - a solid & confident contribution at the back & in attack.
Both our goals came from the midfield – Tom Issitt
and Will Carr
grabbing one each.
Thoroughly enjoyable 2-1 win by all accounts.
Oh – and Ross did have 10 men, but who cares.
No report on the tea, as I wasn’t there. Mike
obviously has his priorities focussed on the pitch. Maybe that is where I’ve been going wrong......
