Our hosts had suffered an abandonment halfway through their midweek game and would have been the first to admit that the pitch was not in the best condition but credit should go to both sides for trying to play a decent game on football on it.

It was level pegging at HT with the Larks probably shading it. Joe Tumelty and George King had both been unlucky not to score, forcing the Greens' keeper Sam Warrell into a couple of good saves. Kidlington looked the more positive side early in the second period but the Larks worked their way back into the game, thanks in no small measure to a typically sterling performance from man of the match Matt Britton and an impressive debut from Oliver Morris in midfield.

It was this pairing who were to fire the Larks into the lead when Oliver launched a precision pass into a crowded Kidlington area where Ginge was on hand to blast home. Kidlington's ability on the break was then showcased as sub Mark Janes headed an equaliser past Liam Armstrong within minutes.

An anxious spell followed for the away side as we were pressed back into our own half, but classy play from Joe worked the ball forward and our top scorer launched a rocket from the edge of the area that Warrell had no chance of getting to. The Greens kept coming at us for the remainder of the game but we held our nerve and defended well, with some important interventions from Josh Jones and captain Mike Baker in particular. Special mention should also go to Greg Peel who worked tirelessly to keep the ball up under considerable pressure from the Kidlington defence.
