Another home win

The Larks registered their first ever win against Wimborne Town with a gritty performance in warm spring sunshine. The decisive moment of the game came very early on when Magpies' keeper Gerald Benfield, under pressure from Larkhall forwards, threw the ball into his own net.

Thereafter the game went back and forth with both sides spurning chances. Wimborne's Jack Lovell was causing problems with quick runs into the home area whilst at the other end Joe Tumelty forced a good save from Benfield, who also made up for his early error by stopping Josh Egan when he was through on goal. The first half ended with a fine strike from Larks winger Alex Lambert that shaved the crossbar.

Wimborne probably had the better of the second period and it took some stout defending from stand-in centre-half Jay Adams and man of the match Jamie Lyons to keep the Larks on top. Larks' centre forward Greg Peel worked very hard to keep the ball up, and towards the end of what felt like a very long second half sub James Stinson supplied a good cross to Joe Raynes who was unlucky not to score from inside the box.
