Local derby ends in victory for the Larks

The Larks put last weekend's FA Trophy horror show behind them with a fine team performance and some clinical finishing against in-form local rivals. New signing James Stinson marked his debut with a great goal and some heroics from Larks keeper Ben John ensured a clean sheet.

The visitors threatened sporadically in the first 20 minutes or so with striker Lewis Powell putting the goal in our net only for it to be rightly flagged offside. Johnsey also had to punch clear a strike from Mangos' Kerry Morgan. It took an opening goal from Larks' top scorer Jamie Lyons to settle our nerves. Lyno collected an inch-perfect pass from man of the match Joe Tumelty and blasted the ball decisively into the top corner of the net.

The second goal came on 65 minutes when Joe picked up a pass from Lyno and cued up debutant striker James Stinson who fired past a stranded Shaun Semmons. Midfielder Josh Egan made it 3-0 in the last ten minutes of the game with a characteristic screamer from the edge of the box with an assist once again from Joe.

Special mention should also go to the Larks' central defensive pairing of Ollie Price and Dan Jones, and also to Ben John who showed great presence of mind and instinctive flair under pressure.
