7 goal thriller at Plain Ham

The draw for the second round of the Somerset Premier Cup has now been made, and we travel the short distance to Welton Rovers from the Western League. Their squad includes a number of ex-Larks, which should make for an interesting tie. The game will probably be played on Tuesday 7th November.

The Larks booked a place in the second round of the Somerset Premier Cup in a highly entertaining contest against Western League Street.

Our visitors were quicker off the blocks when last season's FA Cup nemesis Steve Murray put them ahead after only 5 minutes. It took the Larks another half hour to equalise through George King, and then Alex Lambert struck close to half-time to give the Larks a 2-1 lead at the break.

It was clear there were more goals to come and the second half duly featured four more, with Murray striking again to level the scores. Our third goal came from an unlikely source as midfielder Matt Britton broke his duck with a superb half volley from 30 yards out.

Josh Wadham then scored for the Cobblers to make it 3-3 and just as were resigning ourselves to the game going to extra time Cory Simpson finally hit the target with a neat finish from close range to snatch victory.
