An excellent day for the S2s, overall well rounded performance with loads or positives. The Boys started the game with the correct attitude and continued to play RUGBY until the last minute.
With a starting line of
1. Cam Macfeate
2. Max Malone
3. Ryan Collins
4. Lewis Anderson
5. Harry Smith
6. Joe Curtis
7. Harry Noble
8. Chris Kay
9. Cammy Cummings
10. Sean Clapperton
11. Kjeld Galloway
12. Grant Innes
13. Duncan Pennycook
14. Luke Gillard

The boys started with some player led goals for the first period of 20 good hand catches and 10 good leg tackles which the boys smashed within 5 mins for the start. The boys started well dominating the first couple of scrums, but unfortunately they hadn’t fully woken up and let Lismore in for an early score. The boys got together under the stern chat of Captain Max Malone and Vice Captain Cammy Cummings and struck straight back with some big running from the forwards and some slick hands from the backs we got back into Lismore territory and with a great offload out the back door by Chris ‘Sonny Bill’ Kay, Lasswade got on the score sheet through Grant Innes.
After the restart the boys got some sustained pressure again through some big storming runs from the forwards notably Harry Noble and Cam MacFeate we got a great try on the wide ala Tim Visser scored by Lasswade’s newest player Kjeld.
Before the end of the first session of play we got scores from Sean and Duncan both from pressure and some great link play between forwards and backs. Although as discussed by the coaches at the end of the game the moment of the match was when umpromted the whole team got together in a huddle at a break in play, while the opposition just stood around waiting. This is one of many great examples of teamwork from Oor Boys.

After a chat in the break the boys all set goals of No Scores against in the second period and to continue with the great use of leg tackles. Some of the highlights in the second period were
• Sean Clapperton covering back and making a great tackle that if not made would have resulted in a score
• Harry Noble organizing the team from set piece and working well in the centre to get the ball wide for a score from Duncan Pennycook
• Duncan Pennycook’s Try which is a contender already for the ‘Try of the Season’
Grant Innes making some ‘leg’ tackles which he will admit is not his favourite place to tackle
• Luke CRUSHING the water bottle carrier and 3 of his teammates dragging him to his feet and congratulating him on a Great Run.
• Luke walking a little funny after the water bottle incident and saying ‘that will definitely bruise’
• And again the highlight for coaches was the din from all the players who ALL wanted the ball from the tap penalty

After a the break, with our vice captain Cammy Cummings seething from some high tackles and some poor sportsmanship he set some goals for the last ten minutes, Cammy was looking for 1 Lasswade Try and No Scores against.
With a change at Ref to a in my own opinion a Dashingly Handsome Lad, Lasswade received the kick and got straight back to the rugby scoring a great try with sustained forward pressure, and a great solo run from Chris Kay using some good strong handoffs.
Unfortunately the boys went to sleep a little and maybe because they wanted to get hands on the ball they all got too close with left space out wide for the Lismore centre to sprint away from the Lasswade defence.
The S2s of old would normally have got their heads down, but Lewis Anderson straight away reset the goals for the final period as another score to make up for the Lismore try. Lasswade got straight back on the attack worked a try for Grant to finish off the game and complete the goals for the third period.

Overall a fantastic performance with all the tries coming from the boys playing rugby rather than our big or fast lads going on solo runs. All the boys performed well but I think they were led really well by our captain Max Malone. Our Men of the Match who performed well from first to the last minute and who led by example throughout were Cammy Cummings and Sean Clapperton.

A Big test next week at Home to Heriots, hope to see all the boys down at training on Wednesday 7pm sharp for a bit of a white board session to start.
