P4 East Kilbride Tournament
Pride at East Kilbride
This end of season tournament allowed the boys to show case how much they have learnt about both the technical, and the character side of rugby this year.
With Hamilton not fielding a team, the P4 tournament was in disarray but the boys agreed to split into two teams, with no subs, to save the day and allow Ayr and East Kilbride to enjoy a proper festival of rugby. Against two well drilled teams we were always going to struggle with only 6 players in each squad but yet again the lads were tested to the limit and not found wanting.
Lasswade/Hamilton: Todd, Finlay, Declan, Liam, Matthew and Ruben.
Lasswade: Evan H, Craig, Josh, Charlie, Joe and Fraser.
Round Robin
Lasswade H 3 - 2 East Kilbride
Lasswade 4 - 3 East Kilbride
Lasswade H 1 - 5 Ayr
Lasswade 3 - 3 Ayr
Lasswade H 4 - 7 Lasswade
Ayr 3 - 4 East Kilbride
Final 1
Lasswade H 2 - 3 East Kilbride
Final 2
Lasswade 2 - 4 Ayr
After the round robin stage Lasswade, with two wins and a draw, were the top placed team but the hosts were quite rightly keen to get as much rugby played as possible so two finals were played.
Unfortunately for both our teams this was a game too far and no wonder considering we played each game with no subs and towards the end some boys had to play for both teams!
We will combine individual reports with our end of season review in the the next few days so keep an eye on the website as I guarantee this will be a school report welcomed into every home!
A big thank you is due to East Kilbride for hosting a terrific tournament and fielding a team that they should be very proud of. With several underage players they continue to show that handling and tackling skills can more than make up for lack of physical stature. We really look forward to playing them again next year and hope they don't grow too much over the summer!
Chris was absolutely gutted to miss today and kept checking Sky Sports News to see if they would give an update but was over the moon to hear how well you all played.
No training tomorrow but we will be out in force on Wednesday to get to grips with rucking.
Many thanks again to all the parents who came through and gave such great positive support to the boys as they have done all season long.

Paul was also gutted to miss this tournament.
