The visitors having garnered only four points from 10 matches in the National League, the home support had hopes of a close contest at the very least.

But while Lasswade had to dig deeper and deeper into their reserves, Biggar reportedly fielded one of their strongest selections this season – and it showed.

Home ambitions were dented in the first minute of the game as the Biggar loose head prop broke through the centre to sprint to the posts from 30 metres out.

Worse, much worse, was to follow as the Biggar backs, and sometimes their forwards, side-stepped, swerved past or simply out paced the home defence, fed with a more than half share of the ball from their forwards.

Five more tries followed which, with all but the last being converted, gave a tidy point-per-minute half-time score.

Tries continued to rain in through the second period and even being reduced to 13 men by yellow cards didn’t hold them back.

69 points down with ten minutes to go, it was little consolation to the home team to prevent the whitewash when Wilson forced his way over in the corner. Even this was wiped out as the final play of the match saw the visitors notch up their twelfth touch-down and eighth conversion.

Lasswade need to find some spark before their next tie in the Edinburgh Regional Cup against Heriots at Goldenacre. Kick-off 1.30pm.
