Musselburgh Tournament 2012
Valiant efforts all round, but little to show for it.
The P7 Boys were ready and raring to go at the Musselburgh Tournament today. Their first game against North Berwick proved a hard one and the North Berwick boys took advantage of a couple of errors on our part and scored two tries. A mention also to Scott and John who kept going and never gave up. Both sides played well but the final score was Lasswade 0 North Berwick 2.
Next game against Heriots was also difficult. Our P7 boys seemed to have given up and Heriots ran circles round them - their heads seem to go down when they play against a Private School. Thomas made a good couple of runs but the Heriots boys just caught him. Logan used his usual strength and powered through 5 or 6 boys at a time.
The third game against Musselburgh saw the boys really wanting win. They started very well and Daniel Shanks scored a good try. Daniel Shanks also had a try saving tackle. There was no stopping Daniel Sutherland who put in some brilliant tackling. Thomas again was good on the wing.- he is extremely fast. The boys had certainly moved up a gear and were just pipped at the post. Score Lasswade 1 Musselburgh 2.
Final game against Haddington saw the boys returning with determination and a more positive attitude. Daniel Sutherland scored a brilliant try. He is a force to be reckoned with at the moment. Final score Lasswade 1 Haddington 2.
It has to be said that these proved to be very physical encounters, and the Lasswade team suffered many casualties. Fraser, Arran, Eaun, Scott and Tony all had to sit out as some point because of their knocks. As a result, the team suffered with so many changes being made. Hope they all are fit again for next week.
Our boys have played so well over the last few weeks in Royal High and Dalkeith Tournaments - maybe today's Tournament was just one too many for them. Their attitudes let them down today, and their usual determination and skill seemed to disappear. Maybe they are saving themselves for our own Tournament next week. Come on boys - you can do it.
As ever, many thanks to our reporter, Simon, and photographer, Susan.
