Hindley RLFC 34 Latchford Albion RLFC 10

Latchford completed their debut season in the NWML premier division with defeat to an impressive Hindley side on Saturday.

The game was in the balance at 16-10 to the hosts at the hour mark, however Latchford were left without any substitutes available and were down to 12 men following injury and Hindley took full advantage to run away and secure the victory.
Albion's points all cane from Danny Brown who contributed two tries and a goal.

With the season concluded Albion's coaching team had time to reflect on a fantastic debut season playing in a higher division;

Lee smith added "It wasn't the big finish to the season we were all hoping for, injuries have been a big factor and having players unavailable with work commitments has been a thorn in our side all year but I think that is as much an issue for rugby league and not just us.

The season however as a whole has been a massive success where we have bedded in the new recruits and in the process ensured our place in the premier division for next year which was our main objective coming into the season.

The lads who have pulled on the shirt this season deserve massive plaudits and even in our final game we held our own for large parts of the game and it proved yet again when we stick to our structure we are a dangerous team with ball in hand and defensively we have become more and more dominant every week.

We are already looking forward to a real big off season and we will be up there fighting for the premiership crown next season. The recruitment drive has already began and we will be putting our alliance team together for next season to provide maximum competition for places. "

Dave Yii said " I would just like to thank every single player who has been part of a great season, we've had some ups and downs but I've really enjoyed it and am already looking forward to having a full pre season with the impressive squad we have recruited. The link to our junior sides will also be an integral part to the future of the club and I am excited by the young talent coming through the ranks. "

Finally chairman Michael Bryon commented " On behalf of the club and committee I would like to thank all coaches and players for their hard work during the season. On and off the field we are putting structures in place to ensure the clubs future is as strong as it can possibly be. Finally I would like to thank all our sponsors as without their continued support the club would not be in the position we are today. "
