Another great day away
This week welcome the report from our roving reporter Mr Gareth Mansfield.
Well, where to start. After an extended lay off due to bad weather and Christmas I was expecting a slowish start to the new year. Delighted to be proved wrong today. Difficult to say but possibly the performance of the season so far. 9 intrepid players made the bike to Perranporth and each gave and outstanding account of themselves. With the wind at our backs in the first half we armed into the game nicely exchanging score for score and then it clicked. Our defence got on top and the pressure on them from the tackle took its toll. We started to score freely with great support play and communication and some fantastic pieces of individual skill. This continued through the rest of the game with the 7 tackle turn over rule being implemented as they just kept running in to our brick wall. Some outstanding contribution that deserve special mention - Alfie ‘The Exocet’ completes 3 of the best covering tackles you’re ever likely to see. As their player is hurtling down the wing, ‘The Exocet’ smashes him into touch with an impact I wouldn’t want to be on the end of. Credit to both players they got back up and carried on. Remarkably he performed the same feat only moments later in the other side of the pitch. Noah, a clean break by 1 of their fastest players and he thinks he’s celebrating another score. Chasing over half the length of the field, Noah dives and manages to grab a fist full of jersey and unceremoniously drags him to the ground. The sheer determination from him to get back and make that tackle for the team was humbling to watch. Finally, who new Kalem was that quick. Busting 2 tackles and then showing a clean pair of heels to the chasing opposition. Oh and then doing it again!!!!! Absolute pleasure to be a part of this team and please don’t be disheartened if you didn’t get a particular mention, I could wax lyrically about each and every 2 only you today. Great performance and we go again next week at home to Wadebridge. ?
