Leamington rugby club are hitting the road.

This June, Stuart Chamberlain, Steve Harris, Pete Gray, Bruce Grant, Richard Burling, Derrin Nisbet, Roger Corckford and Phil McGaffin are mounting their steeds - bikes!- and blazing a trail from Leamington Rugby Club to Holyhead Lifeboat station on Anglesey

8 riders, 210 miles, 3 days
The route will take us out to Kidderminster, up to Oswestry, through Snowdonia to Bangor, cross the Menai Straits, cycle across Anglesey to Holyhead.

210 miles - tired legs, chaffed thighs, rear end like its been thrashed with a wet tea towel.....and all in the name of fun - well charity is its surname.

Who are we doing it for??

RNLI - do I need to say anymore.Brave men and women, all volunteers, putting their lives at risk
Warwickshire and Northants Air Ambulance - valuable service to the Midlands area, saving countless lives, seen regularly flying in the area - we want to keep it that way
Mountain Rescue England and Wales - again, volunteers to a person, risking life and limb on the side of a mountain
Prostate Cancer - charity close to my heart, like to give something back, Leamington Rugby Club's charity for 2011/12 season
Matt Hampson Foundation - a ruugby player who was seriously injured. His foundation's aim is to provide advice, support, relief and/or treatment for anyone suffering serious injury or disability which has arisen from any cause, but in particular from participation in or training for any sport, sporting activity or other form of physical education or recreation - can't say much more than that.
What do we want from you??
The simple bit - £1.00. One pound I hear you cry - thats nothing. And thats right it is nothing, so if 50,000 give nothing that makes £50,000 - the purists will say its nothing, but I don't work in finance for nothing - christ getting in a right muddle here!
Pop in a pound and pass the message on. Think how many people you know and how many are affected by the charities above!! You will not notice one pound and if you email, tweet and facebook to family, friends, work colleagues, distant relations, offspriing at uni or living away from home, the message will soon spread and the money quickly mount.

To make a donation, go to http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/leamingtonrugbyriders
or obviously if you are nearer to home then pass it over at the club.
We are also aiming to raise some money for the youth rugby programme and to support the schools rugby programme, both valuable in terms of promoting the game, keep kids fit, healthy and occupied and ensuring a regular supply of talent to the game
We welcome any support, great or small. If you do Pop in a Poun - many thanks, every step gets us nearer the target. Of course, if you have a few more coppers lurking in the dark recess of your trousers, bung those in too. Don't be shy!
