Spring weather arrived at Moorefields on Saturday, but it didn't help the first XV who came off second best against to a very capable Spartans team from Sutton Coldfield. The visitors ran in 5 tries to our 1 from Lewis Kelsey. Elsewhere, Pinley and Southam were both losers and Nuneaton Old Eds beat relegated Dunlop as expected. The shock result was Barkers Butts winning away at Rugby Lions, which has opened the relegation trap-door again – we need one more win!

The seconds were also on the end of a 30 point loss at Kenilworth and it was left to the Spartans to claim a 30 point win when they entertained our Spanish visitors from Jaen, who were clearly suffering from our hospitality the night before . They did have a win however – the Tissot watch that was first prize in our Six Nations raffle. The Colts game against Rugby Lions was cancelled when Rugby failed to raise a team.

This week, the first XV are at home to Malvern who are a couple of places above us. It is the final Vice Presidents’ lunch of the season and they will no doubt add their support. If you want to go, please contact Charlie Gardner asap cngardner@btinternet.com

The 2nd XV are playing at Stratford and it looks as though there will not be a Spartans or a Colts game.
Last Sunday the under-15s had a good win over Kenilworth and the under-13s lost to Old Coventrians. This Sunday the juniors are at home - under-15s to Shipston; Under-14s to Newport and under-13s to Rugby St Andrews. The minis are on tour.

When visiting the club over the next couple of weeks you might experience the smell of tarmac – this is due to the netball courts being resurfaced.
