Leamington/Old Leamingtonians Colts were well beaten away at Broadstreet but took a huge amount of confidence from their second half performance. Spa started the game slowly and allowed a strong experienced Broadstreet team to race to a 20+ point lead in the first quarter. The scrum was operating well for the visitors, but in was at the breakdown where Broadstreet had the upper hand. The second period of the first half saw more possession from Old Leams/Leamington and from a short range penalty George Wild crashed over the line. Broadstreet managed 2 further tries to lead 33 – 5 at half time. The second half was a much more even affair with the Spa scrum continually exerting pressure leading to a number won against the head. It was again as a result of pressure and a penalty that saw Old Leams/Leamington score their second which was converted by James Fullbrook. Broadstreet shaded the second half 12 -7 to give a final score of 45 – 12.
If Spa can build on their second half performance then things will improve for the rest of the season
