4-2 win away at Warwick
Another tight game for the badgers team. Very good experience for their development but nail biting to watch.
A difficult start whist Warwick played their adult until some late starters arrived. An excellent individual goal by Tom Freail put Leamington ahead which on balance was against the run of play. Warwick made several excellent crosses at the by line across our goal which fortunately a certain Smith Jnr, loitering on the back post, was not able to connect with. We sorted that move at the half time break.
The second half continued to be tight until Leamington added another with good teamwork between the midfield and attack and several passes ended with Anna Meeson putting into the goal from close range. Despite Warwick pulling one back from a penalty corner Leamington were increasingly taking control. A well taken long range shot by Tom Lee was unstoppable to make it 3-1. Leamington were then putting the Warwick goalkeeper under constant pressure and he made a succession of blocks from a barrage of shots before Lara Tripp-Smith slammed it into the goal to make it 4-1
Warwick scored another penalty corner to make it 4-2 but Leamington were firmly on top and made it look comfortable at the end.
Player of the match to Bethan Bowden-Williams who made some crucial safes and demonstrated that keeper training is paying dividends.
