6-1 win over Straford
Freezing cold but Leamington on Fire
A dominating team performance by Leamington including putting their early opportunities away to quieten the opposition from the start. Leamington went ahead with a well taken reverse sweep shot high into the goal by Immy George. Immy quickly added another putting Leamington in command early on. A strong midfield and defensive play kept Stratford away from our 22 and therefore any pressure on our goal.
Ciaran Smith finished off a fine solo effort which surprisingly was his first goal for badgers on what could be his last appearance before moving full time into seniors. Harry was determined to score and had several efforts stop by the Stratford Keeper who showed good quality. Harry finally managed to get through to make it 4.0
Stratford found themselves under constant Leamington pressure who were moving the ball well out of midfield across the flanks and then back into the D. Anna Meeson tapped in a goal mouth scramble just as we see her role in the team. Another fine midfield move saw the ball go wide left to Tom Magraw who found space to break free and put a telling cross into the D which was met first time by Tom Freail and straight in the goal to make it 6-0
Stratford had a late arrival who showed excellent class with good ball skill which he used to enter the top of Leamington's D and struck a classy strike to pull one back for Stratford.
6-1 at half time, the Stratford Coach could take no more and looked to the umpires to call an end to the game stating conditions were unsafe. There had been no cause for concern during the half on either side to suggest this. Despite solutions from both ourselves and his own youngsters he was not prepared to carry on. A poor example to his youngsters who were a credit to the club.
Thanks to Chris Meeson our adults player for the game playing alongside daughter Anna.
