Leeds Mens lacrosse have won the Yorkshire Shield to complete a fantastic treble winning season.
On a lovely sunny day at Adel, 8 teams competed for the chance to win the Yorkshire Shield. With the teams split over 2 groups, the final would be contested bewteen the teams which topped each group.
The day did not get off to a fantastic start, with leeds Lacrosse losing to Leeds Met A by a scoreline of 2-1. However, with a strong Newcastle team beating Leeds Met in the next game, Leeds still had a chance of winning the group if they could beat Newcastle by a large scoreline. And that they did. A very strong performance saw Leeds beat Newcastle 7-2 and mean that they were to play in the final against Sheffield Steelers for a chance to lift the Shield.
By half-time in the final, Leeds led Steelers 4-1. In the second half a stong Steelers fight back saw them get to within 1 goal. They the chance to level in the dying seconds but came up short and Leeds were crowned victors with a scoreline of 5-4.
A big thank you to the organiser Gareth Cornelius, Leeds Womens Lacrosse for their excellent hosting, the referees, and for all the teams who turned up
