Lancashire take the title

Lancashire are the Under 19’s Tri Series Champions after a 30 -10 Roses victory over Yorkshire after the scores had been deadlocked at 10-10 after the visitors had come back from 10- down.

Leading 16-10 on the hour mark three tries in six minutes and a conversion made sure there was no comeback for Yorkshire and Lancashire ended up worthy winners.

Jack Hanson gave a man of the match performance just shading it over many contenders in the Lancashire with his general kicking game, bringing both the backs and forwards into play display. He kicked three from six conversions and scored a superb eighty metre try for his sides second.

Lancashire opened the scoring on ten minutes when Yorkshire knocked on a Joe Prior bomb and from the scrum the ball went out wide and Tom Davies through a gap to score and Hanson added the extras.

Four minutes later it was 10-0 with Yorkshire pressing they put a grubber towards the Lancashire line but the ball was scooped up by Hanson who scorched over in the far corner.

On the half hour Yorkshire came back into the game when tackling machine Brandon French crossed for the visitors and five minutes later it was a level game as Bret Barlow went over and Kieron Jones added the extras.

It was nip and tuck in the second half but Lancashire struck first from the play the ball when Prior jinked over untouched for a converted ry.

Yorkshire then lost the ball for a spell early in the tackle count and Lancashire then hit them with a triple whammy. On 60 minutes superb handling saw Harry Gagen go over for another six pointer, three miutes later Davies completed his brace and on 66 minutes Matty Wilkinson went over for the sides final try for memorable win.
