Rd 5 Saw the Minotaurs travel to Coventry to tackle the Birmingham Bears. Having only recently fought out a close contest in Round 4 the match was destined to be a close contest.
Fielding another threadbare team featuring two debutants the Minotaurs boys started sluggish as the Bears got the jump on them. The bears controlled the stoppages and clearances to kick 5 goals to 3 in the opening term.
In the second term the Leeds boys got their hands on the ball more but some inaccurate kicking cost the side. Half time scores were 9.2 to 5.11. Some of the standout players in the 1st half were debutant Nathan Fozzard, Ben Warran and James Wilson.

The 2nd half was similar to the 1st as the Bears quickly jumped out of the blocks and kept the Minotaurs at arms length for the remainder of the game.

Leeds Minotaurs 10.16.76
Birmingham Bears 16.12.108
