"It is clear to see in the matches that the ladies are continually improving". - Phil Bruce..

Leek CSOB Ladies F.C travelled to Whitchurch Ladies F.C for their first game since their match against Stoke Town Ladies F.C on Sunday 26th October.

A few of the regular players were unavailable for the match, which resulted in a rotation of the team. The ladies started brightly though, utilising their speed on the wings and getting behind the Whitchurch ladies, but just lacking that killer edge in front of goal. The defence also started solidly, with good levels of communication and organisation shown by the back four. Whitchurch took the lead against the run of play, pouncing on some hesitation.
This galvanized Whitchurch, who scored again a few minutes later, taking advantage of a defensive mistake. Leek responded well, creating a few more chances towards the end of the first half, but to no avail.

The second half started in the same way as the first, with Leek starting brightly and pressing high into the Whitchurch half and causing problems for the Whitchurch defence. Despite this, it was Whitchurch who grabbed the third goal of the match, with the shot going in off the post, even though the ball did not look to have crossed the line. Though Leek were three goals down, they kept on playing in the right way and showing the initiative. Whitchurch got themselves a fourth goal late on, and the match finished Whitchurch Ladies F.C 4 Leek CSOB Ladies F.C 0.

After the match, Leek CSOB Ladies F.C Manager Phil Bruce was disappointed with the result, but has his eyes on the results and the luck changing. He says "Today was frustrating as it was essentially mistakes and errors that resulted in the goals that we conceded today. We played well in spells and controlled the tempo of the game, we just need to cut out these mistakes, and to finish off the chances that we do create. This will come, as the ladies are working really hard in training, and I think that, as soon as we get one good result, we will potentially go on a run. It is clear to see in the matches that the ladies are continually improving, and I am really looking forward to continuing our improvement and development"

Phil is especially delighted with the hard work, dedication and continued improvement shown by Amanda Sale and Becci Neale, and believes that they are showing what can be done by putting the effort in, wanting to learn, and listening to any advice that has been given. Amanda is full of positivity for the team, and she says "The team is as strong as ever, with the players now coming together and pushing even harder. With all the training and dedication being shown from the manager, coaches and players, we're going to be where we deserve to be soon"

Leek CSOB Ladies F.C are at home next Sunday, against Stafford Town Ladies F.C, 2pm kick-off.
