Manager, Danny Hyde made several changes to the team from last week. He has a relatively large squad and with what looks to be a glut of league fixtures it is important he keeps players fresh. Drew Bennett captained the side and came in at left-back for Rob Drummond, Nathan Ball replaced club-captain Sam Pettitt at the heart of the defence, Dale Walters came in for Jack Bowyer in midfield, Will Bown lead the attack replacing top-scorer Jamie Pointon and James Brough also came into midfield. Rob Drummond, Keiran Scotland, Mitch Cartlidge, Sam Pettitt and Zac Barker were the substitutes.

CSOB started strongly and had consecutive corners within the first two minutes. CSOB were taking the game to Silverdale and in the tenth minute the ball was played through to Will Bown but he lifted his shot just over the cross bar when well placed. Two minutes later Chris Darlington, Silverdale's centre forward, was cautioned for a rash tackle on Matt Anderson. Will Bown was making his presence felt, he made a break, passed to Mitch Shenton but his shot was blocked.
As the half wore on Silverdale were starting to get back into the game. It was good to see Bown, Brough, Anderson, Shenton and Fox were all linking up well. It is fair to say that CSOB were on top but they were failing to press home their advantage. Tom Bourne was looking dangerous with some penetrating runs down the right and a speculative shot come cross hit the left hand corner of the post and cross bar of the Silverdale goal with the keeper beaten. As the half progressed the game was getting bogged down in midfield mainly because both teams were guilty of misplacing passes and were choosing the wrong option. Silverdale were going through a period where they were starting to pass the ball better than CSOB but their advantage could not be sustained in front of goal.

Almost from the start there was good interplay between Shenton, Brough and Anderson which ended up with Bown just shooting wide of the target. CSOB had the slight advantage of the wind and the sun was starting to break through the cloud. A super pass from James Brough found Mitch Shenton with a great opportunity to break the deadlock but his effort was well saved by the Silverdale keeper. In the fifty seventh minute, CSOB were awarded a free kick in a central position about four yards from the edge of the Silverdale area. Will Bown took the kick and following a slight deflection in the wall the ball found the back of the net to give CSOB a deserved lead. Seven minutes later, CSOB's lead was doubled. A Silverdale defender mistimed his header and the ball ended up at the feet of Mark Fox who checked his run and calmly put the ball into the corner of the Silverdale net. This heralded a period of CSOB pressure but they were not getting their just reward and they were unable to finish the game off. Silverdale had a good chance to get back into the game but Ash Knight dived to his left and made a fantastic save to keep the ball out. Silverdale were now starting to claw their way back into the game and Dominic Thorley was orchestrating it. In the seventy first minute, Silverdale got their rewards as the ball was played out to the Silverdale left where Ben Dodd was in space, he took a touch, drove into the CSOB area and unleashed a shot which flew into the top right corner of the CSOB net. Quite rightly this had a positive effect on the Silverdale players but CSOB wanted more goals. They only had to wait a couple of minutes for the two goal advantage to be restored and it was that man Bown with his second of the game. He drifted his way in from the left side and went past 3 defenders and drove the ball hard and low across goal and out of reach of the outstretched keeper. Moments later he put in a good reverse pass to Anderson but he appeared to hurry his shot and the ball drifted wide. In the seventy seventh minute, Rob Drummond replaced James Brough which meant a reshuffle in positions. Only minutes later Drummond was immediately involved as he went on the overlap past Anderson and delivered a pin point cross on to the head of Walters who made no mistake to put the result beyond doubt. CSOB replaced Mitch Shenton and Will Bown with the fresh legs of Keiran Scotland and Mitch Cartlidge for the final ten minutes as they went looking for more goals. A super run by Cartlidge almost saw him on the score-sheet but his shot was blocked for a corner. Old Boys safely saw out the game and are now through to the semi-final of the competition.
