Pointons and CSOB to make history.

The first ever football game to be played at Pointon Park on grass is scheduled for this Sunday morning 11.00am, Pointons team will be led by Barney Williams, company director and was project manager of the whole Pointon Park site during its build. Leek Csob will have many OLD faces who once graced the red and white shirts playing including John Hyde and Steve Rutter (pictured).
The friendly game will be the first game played on the virgin grass and it is fitting that it is the company who funded the build Pointons and CSOB who are long term leasers of the pitch facing each other.
Park manager John Barratt commented on the game saying “ Sunday will be a very special day despite the game only being a friendly, having watched the pitch develop over the last year has been frustrating to say the least, it’s been a most beautiful lawn to look at but now it’s ready for what it is intended, football”.
Barratt also sits on the committee for CSOB as well as manages the Park, his decision to play for Pointons in the game resulted in CSOB Vice Chairman John Hyde calling him Judas, Barratt added “it was a tough decision to choose but there is a lot of players in the CSOB side I want to kick”.
One person who will be especially delighted football is finally being played at the park is Barney Williams, the project has been years in the planning, costing in the region of two million pounds and Barney has overseen every single detail including the football pitch, its only right and fitting that he should be playing in the first game played on grass.
