Leek fight back to earn a well deserved point.
After last weeks cup success, Leek were back to league action where they travelled to Birchenwood to face Kidsgrove Town.
Game 1 – started with both teams playing some good football and creating chances at both ends. Kidsgrove proved strong in midfield but Leek showed they were more than a match but it was Kidsgrove taking the lead before half time when the Leek defence who played well during the half were punished when they failed to clear. Second half saw possibly the best display from Leek so far this season. Leek were looking more dangerous as the half wore on and it came to no surprise when Leek equalised with Harry Poole’s shot giving the Kidsgrove goalkeeper no chance. Kidsgrove were strong in midfield but Leek more than matched the opposition with Dylan Tweats giving a man of the match performance showing leadership quality in midfield with also Callum Mycock putting in a very good performance in defence. Both teams created chances with Harry Bond going close for Leek.
Full-time Kidsgrove 1 Leek Town U9’s 1.
An excellent all round performance from Leek. Jacob Cumberbatch, George Shenton, Louis Konstantino, Callum Mycock in defence. Midfielders Dylan Tweats, Jack Poole, Harry Poole, Harry Bond and Josh Brown can be proud of their work in Game 1 and could we go on better in Game 2.
