BAKER - IT WAS A LOTTERY

Neil Baker was a disappointed man after his side returned home empty-handed from the dreadful weather conditions at Stamford.

He commented, “Stamford are a big side and I think they played the conditions better than we did in a poor game due to the atrocious weather.

“But our back five defended well when they came under pressure in the first half with the main threat coming from corners.

“Shortly before the break we almost levelled the scores when Nathan tested the keeper but generally chances were few and far between.

“However, we were not good enough to take advantage when the conditions were in our favour.

“Neither spectators, players nor managers want to play in these conditions. They are not football conditions, they are a complete lottery, a real spoiler and I think they should be called off”, he added.

Baker will test the fitness of club captain Darren Chadwick ahead of Leek’s home fixture against Peterborough Sports on Saturday after the central defender suffered a calf strain in a recent training session and missed three games.
