BAKERS VERDICT ON KENDAL VICTORY

1 week ago By Stevie R

After the 3-0 victory over Kendal Town at Harrison Park, manager Neil Baker gave his thoughts on the game.

"I thought we started the game well without being as dangerous as we can be, but we took the lead with a good goal and then miss a penalty that would have made it 2-0 and we would have been sailing.

But the penalty miss seemed to take the wind out of our sails and in the second half they matched up in midfield and made it hard for us.

So it was difficult afternoon but we expected that, they are a team that sit in and counter attack against you and we have found hard against teams like that to break them down this season.

The goals came late but that doesn't matter, we persevered and although we weren't at our best I'm pleased we came out with the points."

Commenting on why Dan Trickett-Smith was not used as a substitute, Baker said:

"I didn't feel the need to bring on Dan. Everybody is crying out for him because we know when he's right he'll make a difference to the team but at the moment I'm not sure he is and my attacking players Jordan and the two strikers are doing well at present.

Speaking on the season as a whole, Baker added:

"I feel we in a decent position, we've played a lot of the best sides in the league and I feel we are on a par with them even though we lost some of those games.

Every game we've played this season we could have won, if we can win some of those tight games I think we will be at the right end of the League."
