Commenting on McCarthy’s departure, Leek Chairman Andy Wain said, “This was a relatively good deal for James and the two clubs.
We’ve managed to get a fee up front with the possibility of add-ons, James has won an 18-month contract and Fylde have signed a very talented player.
“We wish him well – he’s been a good servant to Leek Town this season but football is football and it’s the best deal for him and the club”, he added.
Blues’ boss Lee Casswell (pictured) said, “I’m obviously disappointed to lose James but he was made an offer he just couldn’t turn down.
“I have enjoyed working with him so I am sorry to see him go but he leaves with our best wishes and I know he will do well with his new club.
“James’s departure now opens up opportunities for Dan Cope and Tim Grice up front and I’m excited by that prospect so I will be looking to go with what I’ve got”, he added.
