Brilliant Blues deservedly took their place in the FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round after beating Boston United 2-0 at Harrison Park.

Lee Casswell opted to make changes to the winning side that started against Kidsgrove in midweek with Ben Chapman, Danny Smith and Niall Maguire coming in to replace Ryan Price, Paul Donnelly and Ashley Jackson.

Leek had a great chance to take the lead in the 2nd minute when Liam Shotton found himself through on goal but shot straight at Boston keeper Sam Vince.

On 16 minutes Dan Shelley tried to find Andy Kinsey when well-placed but injured himself in the process and had to be replaced by Jordan Johnson.

In the 22nd minute Chapman was called into action for the first time and got down well to save from Scott Garner. Four minutes later Chapman denied Garner again as Boston enjoyed their best spell of the game.

The Pilgrims had shouts for a penalty turned down after claiming a shot had been charged down by a hand and Chapman made his third good save to deny Carl Piergianni.

Five minutes before the break Blues should have gone ahead when Andy Kinsey's shot was saved and the rebound fell to Shotton, but his effort went over the bar.

A minute later Darren Chadwick went close as his header from a corner dropped just the wrong side of the post.

Eight minutes after the break, Town went ahead. A good move down the right saw Danny Smith cross for Shotton to steer the ball into the empty net.

Chapman made a good save from Kaine Felix on the hour as Boston looked to get back into the game but it was Blues who scored again to extend their lead in the 67th minute.

Johnson intercepted a backpass wide on the right and he rolled the bar across the box for Niall Maguire to stroke home the ball with the keeper out of position.

Although Boston had their fair share of possession after that, they created little in the way of clear-cut opportunities and Bluex comfortably held out for a well-deserved victory over their Conference North opponents.
