Blues won through to the next round of the FA Cup with a 3-2 victory over Newcastle Town in a pulsating match at Harrison Park.

The local derby lived up to all the pre-match hype as Blues fans were treated to their second five goal thriller of the week.

Castle named six former Blues in their starting line-up whilst Anthony Danylyk was forced into a couple of changes. Sam Grimshaw and Aaron Carter came in for their full debuts replacing Tim Grice (injury) and Darren Chadwick (holiday).

The visitors made the stronger start and Chris Martin was forced into a fine save just two minutes into the game to push Niall Green's free-kick around the post.

Jon Beaumont had a shot go just wide in the 8th minute before they took the lead four minutes later. A long ball forward was nodded on to Lee Cropper and he slotted the ball calmly past Martin and in off the post.

Grimshaw had Leek's first effort on 17 minutes but Dillon was down well to push his low shot around the post and he was heavily involved in the equaliser in the 22nd minute.

The young winger(pictured) picked the ball up just inside his own half and ran past two men into the penalty area before cutting the ball back to Budrys who finished clinically past the keeper.

Newcastle came close again on 29 minutes when Martin clutched a close range header following a corner.

Blues went in front un the 35th minute with a goal thar surely be a contender for the goal of the season. Niall Maguire's ball to the edge of the box was chested by Budrys (pictured, below) who waited for the ball to drop and then under pressure from a defender hit a brilliant 20 yard looping volley into the back of the net.

Castle were back on level terms early in the second half when Cropper fed Jordan Cole who ran on into the area and finished well to beat the advancing Martin.

On 52 minutes Maguire came close when he hit a low 20 yard shot that Dillon only just managed to keep out by fumbling the ball wide of the post.

The sides continued to trade chances with Jordan Johnson firing just wide and then Lee Cropper's shot being blocked by the feet of Martin.

Castle were putting in some crunching tackles and the referee was struggling to keep control of the game, but was Leek who finished the game stronger, Maguire having another low drive saved and a Budrys overhead kick dropping just wide.

Toby Mullarkey thought he had scored for the second game running but his powerful header from a corner was magnificently clawed away by Dillon. Tom France also saw his saved by Dillon who managed to push it just past the post.

The winner finally came in the 87th minute when a ball back into the box by Ricky Bridge found its way to Aaron Carter who flicked the ball up and turned to smash a volley into the net from six yards out to spark wild celebrations from players and fans alike.
