Blues relentless pursuit of promotion continued after completing the double over Coalville at Harrison Park on Saturday.

The victory over the Leicestershire outfit was Blues’ seventh win on the bounce during which they scored 15 and conceded just one goal.

Lee Casswell has guided his squad through some difficult games as well as some potential banana skins during March despite seeing his squad decimated through international call-ups and injury problems.

However, his side has pulled through despite the set-backs and no doubt Leek will pick up the ‘Club of the Month Award’ for March – the first such award for Casswell this season.

Leek’s remarkable run of victories has included five away wins and two home wins with Saturday’s win over Coalville elevating them into 2nd place behind leaders Mickleover who are 7 points clear of Blues who have two games in hand.

After the game Blues’ boss Lee Casswell said, “The month in general has been a fantastic effort with 7 wins, 15 goals and only one conceded despite losing players due to international call-ups and injury.

“We’ve endured problems with squad availability as well as problems behind the scenes but we’ve overcome the difficulties and brought in a number of players to boost the squad.

“I’d like to place on record my thanks to Crewe Alexandra for allowing youngsters Andre Brown and Tobias Mullarkey to come on loan and also to Hanley Town for allowing Theo Stair to join us on a dual registration – all three players have done well for us.

“What we’ve achieved in recent weeks has been tremendous but, after the Senior Cup game on Wednesday, we have another difficult week with four games in eight days to negotiate and this will define where we are in the race for promotion.
