Leek Town went into their FA Cup Preliminary Round game at home to Lichfield City on Saturday with three regulars missing from the squad.

Tim Grice and Jordan Johnson were both unavailable attending family functions whilst Matt Bell was forced to miss the game due to illness.

However, Blues’ boss Lee Casswell was able to give starts to Anthony Danylyk and Andy Kinsey whilst Ryan Dicker won a seat on the bench.

After the game Blues’ boss Lee Casswell praised his side saying, “I thought it was a good performance and a great result that puts us in the next round.

“We told the players we wanted no complacency, no upsets and they took it on board and had the game won and the job done inside the opening 20 minutes.

“It was important that we were not involved in any replay so I’m delighted that we can now concentrate on the next two league games before we go into the next round of the cup”, he added.

Blues will now entertain Stourport Swifts in the FA Cup First Round Qualifying at Harrison Park on Saturday 13th September with a 3.00pm kick off.

Stourport play in the newly formed Midland League Premier Division and beat West Midland Regional League outfit Wellington FC 3-2 in the Preliminary Round on Saturday.

Blues picked up £1,925 in prize money for the victory over Lichfield and will be looking to earn a further £3,000 if they are successful in the next round.
