Leek Town’s ground-staff came in for high praise from Club Chairman Andy Wain.

A lot of hard work was put in to prepare the pitch for Saturday’s home game against Sheffield and it paid off despite the atrocious weather conditions in the run-up to the game.

Despite their efforts, the pitch inevitably cut up during the pre-match warm-up period and deteriorated as the game wore on but in the end the surface played remarkably well justifying the decision by a local referee to confirm the pitch was playable.

Club Chairman Andy Wain commented, “Yet again we say a big thank you to John Walton, Kev Chandler, Chris Hermiston and others who have worked really hard on the pitch to get this weekends game on.

“The weather has not been on our side but these guys have worked hard to enable us to get much needed game on” he added.
