DANYLYK: BREAK NOT WHAT WE NEEDED

Blues retained third place in the South Division table despite their scheduled game at Carlton on Saturday falling foul of the weather.

The Bill Stokeld Stadium was inspected at 9.20am but the playing surface was flooded and so Blues suffered two postponements in five days after their Integro League cup tie earlier in the week was postponed due to Glossop’s continued involvement in the Derbyshire Senior Cup.

Commenting on the postponement, Blues’ boss Ant Danylyk said, “Having these two games postponed is really frustrating for us after we’d put a good run of form together.

“We don’t really need this break, we need games and so we will have to get together this week to try and keep the momentum going.

“It’s important that we keep playing games as we challenge for the play-offs and hope that the postponements wont be too much of a problem for us”, he added.

Danylyk did receive some good news during the week when winger Tom France was given the all-clear to resume training after recovering from a broken toe and he now joins defender Aaron Carter back in the squad following lengthy lay-offs.

Midfielder Dan Shelley is still side-lined with a troublesome ankle injury whilst defender Mackenzie Faulkner has the benefit of a further week to recover from the bizarre head wound picked up in the recent home game against Sheffield.

Meanwhile, local rivals Newcastle Town have issued 7-days notice of approach for defender Ricky Bridge whose appearances have been limited in recent weeks and he will have talks with the Blues’ boss regarding his future at Harrison Park this week.
