Blues progressed to the next round of the FA Cup in a cracking preliminary round tie to earn bragging rights over near neighbours Newcastle Town.

After the game delighted Blues’ boss Ant Danylyk said, “We’re pleased to get the win showing great character after falling behind early on.

“We went on to play really well and looked well on the ball getting back into the game with our noses in front at the break.

“Sam Grimshaw caused all sorts of problems for the Castle defence – they (Newcastle) found it difficult to cope with both our wide men.

“Aaron Carter did well on his debut he hadn’t played much football but he celebrated by netting the winner against his former club – he will prove a good addition to the squad.

“Following our draw at Lincoln, we’ve now won two games on the spin picking up our first three points with victory over Market Drayton last week and now we are looking to continue the momentum at Gresley on Saturday before the Bank Holiday Monday clash at home to Kidsgrove.

“We’re pleased with the way things are going at the moment”, he added.

Blues reward for the victory over Newcastle is another home draw against Southern League Premier Division outfit Kettering Town on Saturday 3 September when £3,000 in prize money will be up for grabs.
