Blues brought the curtain down on their home league programme with a 3-1 victory over bottom-markers Tividale FC at Harrison Park on Saturday.

After the game Leek manager Ant Danylyk said, “I was pleased with the result but disappointed with the performance – we seemed to lack energy.

“With a little more application we could have won by six or seven goals but they might have had four of their own.

“However, I’m happy with the three points but we need to be better – a better side might well have won the game

“There were many positives to take from the game with Haughton looking bright out wide whilst Tim Grice got another couple to boost his confidence for the final two games.

“In a tactical move we replaced Kyle Diskin with Aaron Daniels at half time to exploit Tividale’s weakness down their left flank.

“Daniels returned to the squad after recovering from a chest injury and showed good form but Blues’ keeper Chris Martin turned in another great performance with a string of outstanding saves,” he added.

Squad news
As the season enters its final week, injury and suspension problems become less important although Blues boss Ant Danylyk will have most of his squad available for the final two away games at Goole (Tuesday) and Spalding (Saturday).

The manager himself is still recovering from an ankle ligament injury and will not be risked whilst Jon Beaumont has declared himself fit despite the nasty ankle injury he picked up in the recent game at Kidsgrove.

Central defender James Curley is to undergo a scan to determine what treatment is required on his suspected torn cartlidge.

Meanwhile, midfielder Kyle Diskin will sit out the first of a three match ban at Spalding next Saturday with the remaining two games carried over to next season.
