With Blues’ boss Ant Danylyk unavailable for this game his assistant Paul Donnelly took charge of the match against Romulus.

He was forced to make changes to the starting line-up when Toby Mullarkey got stuck in traffic on the M6 after a car caught fire.

The visitors got off to a blistering start with a goal in the 2nd minute and went further ahead on 23 minutes to leave Blues with a mountain to climb.

However, Leek clawed their way back into the game thirty minutes in when Alex Morris netted his first goal for the club and Chris Budrys netted an equaliser in the second half.

After the game assistant manager Paul Donnelly said, “We were frustrated to only get a draw but after going two goals down early on I suppose it was a point won.

“We looked very nervy after going behind but we’re still on a little unbeaten run and so we will keep climbing the table.

“We now look forward to a big cup game when Premier Division outfit Sutton Coldfield Town are the visitors to Harrison Park in the FA Trophy – it’s a chance to test ourselves against higher league opponents.

“It’s also an opportunity of winning much needed revenue for the club with £2,700 prize money at stake.

“We go into the game on Saturday with a much stronger squad with Ant Danylyk, Tom France and Chris Martin all back in contention whilst Aaron Carter is still a couple of weeks away,” he added.
