Blues ended their recent run of defeats with a 3-2 victory over Chasetown at Harrison Park.

Manager Ant Danylyk made five changes to his side, restoring himself, Ricky Bridge, Darren Chadwick and Jordan Johnson to the starting line-up and handing defender MacKenzie Faulkner his first start.

Blues got off to the perfect start after just four minutes when Tim Grice saw his shot parried away by Curtis Pond but Jake Dunwoody was on hand to drive home the rebound.

The visitors were back on level terms after 13 minutes when Jack Langston's low shot took a deflection past Chris Martin.

Langston scored his and Chasetown's second in the 33rd minute when he met a ball from the left and finished well low to Martin's right.

The lead only lasted a minute though as Grice rose at the far post to nod home from close range to level the scores.

Moments later Leek were almost ahead when Johnson set up Grice but his fierce shot was beaten away by Pond in the Scholars goal,

The referee angered the Leek faithful producing yellow cards for single fouls from both Dunwoody and Chadwick whilst persistent offenders for Chasetown escaped without a caution,

Blues however took the game to their opponents after the break and always looked the more likely to score.

The goal came in the 70th minute and had more than a touch of fortune about it as Pond's clearance smashed into Leon Ashman's face and rebounded right in front of the empty net leaving Grice to tap the ball home.

Grice should have completed his hat-trick late in the game when he intercepted a back pass and found himself through on goal. He slipped the ball past Pond but also wide of the post.

James Gibbons hit a fine effort late on but the keeper got down well to scramble the ball away.

In added time The Scholars had their only real chance of the half as Martin pulled off a terrific save a point blank range to keep out a low effort and secure the three points for Danylyk;s men.
