Leek Town have added strength to its backroom staff with the appointment of a qualified physio to assist Ken Ashford as well as an assistant for long-term groundsman Chris Hermiston.

Physio Kevin Brown was born and bred in Leek before moving on to Essex University where he picked up a degree in Sports Science.

After moving back to North Staffordshire he then landed a second degree at Keele University and is currently learning his trade at the Haywood Hospital in Stoke on Trent.

Blues are also delighted to welcome to Harrison Park former Kidsgrove groundsman Ian Cooper who makes a living maintaining sports pitches in and around the Potteries area.

On the playing side, Lee Casswell has offered terms to former Port Vale youngster Andy Bratt who was on the books at Newcastle Town last season and is also expected to sign a vastly experienced defender who has played at Conference level as well as having played in the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division.

The Blues boss has decided not to pursue his interest in former Macclesfield Town midfielder Adam Roberts, who spent the back end of last season on loan at Harrison Park, whist Colwyn Bay won the race with the Blues’ boss for the signature of Roberts’ former Macclesfield team-mate Michael Thomas.
